English: Apodemus sylvaticus This tiny Long-tailed Field (or Wood) Mouse makes a suitably modest subject for my 5000th Geograph image. Disturbed by garden maintenance, it made a dash for it and was almost intercepted by the chickens which would have killed it in a trice. It is normally nocturnal and seemed bewildered by its sudden emergence into the daylight.
