Using Spotify.[breyta]

Spotify is a music streaming service that is still in beta. The free version is financed by commercial adds, but it is also possible to buy a subscription and pay for 24 hr or 1 year access, without commercial adds.

How to search for music with Spotify.[breyta]

In the search field you can use the following prefixes: Title:, album:, artist:, year: and genre:.

'artist:Madonna' returns all songs by Madonna. 'album:American life' returns all albums with the words American life or both.

To get the results from an exact search string you have to use " ". 'album:"American life' only returns albums with the exact name "American life".

To search for all Madonna songs from 1990 to 2008, artist:madonna year:1990-2008.

It is also possible to use - to exclude search results. To search for all Madonna songs from 1990 to 2008 but not 1998-2002, artist:madonna year:1990-2008 -year:1998-2002.

In the main window you can arrange search results by clicking the column headings.

By clicking on the album you will get a list with all the songs on that spesific album.

If you press artist you will get all records with that artist.

Play lists.[breyta]

It is possible to make playlists by clicking 'new playlist' in the left window. Then you can drag and drop songs from the search window.

Share with your friends.[breyta]

By right clicking songs or albums you can make a link to the album or song and send it to friends on MSN or email. You can also post or get playlists on http://spotylist.com/

Spotify Radio[breyta]

Spotify also has a radio feature. Here you can choose genre and year. Eg if you choose 80 and punk you will only hear Punk from the 80's. It is also possible to integrate Spotify with LastFm.
